How to Choose Solar Cable

Published by Author: Joey Wan September 30,2020

In the installation of solar systems, people usually do not think the wiring system connecting solar modules as key components. However, if using the low-quality solar cable that will affect the service life of the entire system. The purchase of solar cables should be based on the actual use environment. Different environments and different component connections have different requirements for cable technology.

In fact, solar systems are often used under harsh environmental conditions, such as high temperatures and ultraviolet radiation. In Africa and Southeast Asia, the temperature of the solar system will reach 100°C on sunny days. The PVC, rubber, TPE materials insulation of solar cable can be used, but when the rated temperature of these cables does not exceed 70 degrees, it will greatly affect the service life of the system.

JZD cable is produced using specific PV insulation materials. As shown in the video, after a high-temperature test of 700 degrees, the photovoltaic cable can quickly restore its original shape, the insulation can protect the conductor and the service life can reach more than 25 years.

For the environment, solar cables are usually used outdoors, and the material should be determined according to ultraviolet light, ozone, severe temperature changes, and chemical erosion. The use of low-grade materials in this kind of environment will cause the cable sheath to be fragile and even decompose the cable insulation layer. All these situations will directly increase the loss of the cable system, and at the same time, the risk of the cable short circuit will increase. In the medium and long term, the possibility of fire or personal injury is also higher.

The rated temperature of JZD solar cable is 120°C, which can withstand harsh weather and mechanical shock in its equipment. Through the TUV certification test, in an outdoor environment, its service life is 8 times that of rubber cables and 32 times that of PVC cables. These cables and components not only have good weather resistance, UV and ozone resistance, but also can withstand a wider range of temperature changes (for example: from –40°C to 125°C).

JZD cable is a wire and cable manufacturer with more than 20 years of production experience. Our solar cables have passed TUV monitoring standards, using high-quality insulation sheath materials, and tinned copper cores, and we have provided cable for more than 800 projects in Africa, Southeast Asia, and other countries.
