Two Kinds Of XLPE Insulated Cable

XLPE is the abbreviation of crosslinked polyethylene. Polyethylene is a linear molecular structure that is easily deformed at high temperature.  

The crosslinking methods of polyethylene include physical crosslinking radiation crosslinking and chemical crosslinking.  

1.radiation crosslinking: polyethylene products, such as polyethylene sheathed in wire, film, thin-walled tube and other products with a gamma ray, high-energy ray irradiation crosslinking (cause polyethylene macromolecules to produce free radicals, the formation of C-C crosslinking chain).  The crosslinking degree is affected by radiation dose and temperature, and the crosslinking point increases with the increase of radiation dose. Therefore, by controlling radiation conditions, the crosslinking degree of crosslinking polyethylene products can be obtained.  

2.chemical crosslinking: chemical crosslinking is the use of chemical crosslinking agent to produce polymer crosslinking, from linear structure to network structure.  The choice of crosslinking agent should depend on polymer variety, processing technology and product performance. In addition to meeting some specific requirements, the ideal crosslinking agent should also have the following basic requirements: high crosslinking rate and stable crosslinking structure.  

Processing safety, easy to use, adding resin after the period of validity is moderate, no premature or too late cross-linking disadvantages;  Does not affect the processing performance and use performance of products;  Non-toxic, non-polluting, non-irritating to skin and eyes.

How about PVC insulated cable?

Low working temperature, short thermal aging life, small transmission capacity, low overload capacity, fire smoke, acid gas harm.  General products of wire and cable industry, good physical and mechanical properties, good processing performance, low cost and price.  But contains halogen, the largest amount of sheath.

Comparison Between XLPE Insulated Cable And PVC Cable

PVC contains chlorine.In the condition of high temperature,decomposition produces chlorine, which is cheapest to use at low temperatures;On the contrary,XLPE containing organic peroxide has excellent electrical properties, low dielectric loss, excellent anti-aging properties and superior heat resistance.  Strong load capacity, chemical corrosion resistance, high mechanical strength.

Now with the strict environment requirement all over the world, the trend XLPE insulated cable is more popular than PVC insulated cable has been becoming more and more clearly.Apart from the price advantage,PVC isn't the rival of XLPE insulated cable.
