What is the difference between welding cable and battery cable?

Published by Author: Joey Wan March 04,2021

From the outside, there is no difference between the battery wire and the welding wire, they are relatively thick flow wires. But they are two different type of cables.

Material

Battery cable is a PVC insulated cable with very good flame-retardant properties, so PVC insulated wires can easily reach the flame-retardant levels required by various standards. In terms of temperature resistance, the maximum temperature that PVC can withstand is 105°C, and the normal working environment temperature is 70°C. Welding cable is rubber insulated, very soft and good elasticity. Rubber insulation cable has good high temperature resistance and can withstand the highest working temperature of 120~180℃. Battery cable is inferior to welding cable in terms of acid and alkali resistance, heat resistance oil, and organic solvent resistance.

Application

Both battery cable and welding cable are suitable for the rated voltage of 450/750V. The battery cable is a battery connection cable, specifically for the connection between the battery and the battery of the electric bicycle. The copper wire in the battery cable conductor is thicker and harder than the welding wire. Electric welding wire is suitable for welding cables connecting cables between welding equipment, and the application environment is more flexible.
