The maintenance electrician recommends the flexible wire to the owner, saying that the flexible wire has good ductility and convenient maintenance in the future; and the decoration electrician recommends the hard wire to the owner, saying that the hard wire is better than the soft wire, so it is better to use a single-strand wire. Now my friends are all confused. They are all recommended by professionals. Is it better to use hard wires or soft wires for decoration? What's the difference between hard wire and soft wire?

1. What is a hard PVC  wire? What is a flexible  PVC wire?

Flexible wire, also known as sheathed wire. Generally, it is a wire made by twisting multiple strands of conductive solid metal wires with a diameter of less than 1 mm, that is, multiple strands of copper wires are wound together inside.

Hard wire, also known as plastic copper wire. Generally, hard wires under 10 square meters are single-strand wires, which are composed of a few thick copper cores.

2, the advantages and disadvantages of hard  PVC wire and flexible wire

1.） From the perspective of service life, because the wires of the hard wires are relatively thick, they are not easy to be oxidized; while the soft wires are composed of multiple strands of thin copper wires, which are easily oxidized by air. Therefore, the service life of hard wires is significantly longer than that of soft wires.

2.） From the price point of view, since the wire of the soft wire is relatively soft, it can be used after multiple windings; while the hard wire has only one copper wire, which can be worn directly. Therefore, the process of hard wire is less than that of soft wire, and the price is relatively much cheaper.

3. ）From the point of view of the carrying capacity, since the flexible wire is wound with multiple strands of copper wire, the current carrying capacity is larger than that of the single-strand copper wire hard wire, but in the case of sudden load, the hard wire can withstand the load. The ability is stronger than the flexible wire. However, for general household use, the current basically does not exceed 100A, and a single-strand can be used.

4.） From the point of view of safety, the standard method of using the flexible wire is to tin the connector or crimp the wire nose when wiring, otherwise the multi-strand wire may be lifted up and connected to the adjacent conductor, causing danger. The hardness of the hard wire is stronger, and the safety is relatively strong.

5. In terms of convenience, when replacing the wire, although the hard wire is more laborious, it can ensure the complete and smooth extraction from the threading tube. If necessary, it can also replace the threading steel wire and pull in the new wire together. The flexible wire is prone to breakage after aging, and the wire may be accidentally pulled off when changing the wire.

3. Use places for hard PVC  wires and soft wires

Due to the weak tensile strength, weak corrosion resistance, strong fatigue resistance and low waste recovery rate of flexible wires, flexible wires are suitable for connection during equipment wiring.

Compared with soft wires, hard wires are cheaper in price, stronger in tensile strength, stronger in corrosion resistance, weaker in fatigue resistance, and higher in scrap recycling rate. Buried and used as the main line.

It can be seen that there is no difference between the two, who is worse and who is worse, only who is more suitable for which position. Therefore, you can choose a hard wire or a soft wire according to the location of the decoration. Generally, it is recommended to give priority to hard wires for household use, which has better anti-oxidation performance and long service time; however, during construction, if the circuit turns too much, you can also choose soft wires, which are better to wear.
