Hospital HVAC — Life-Critical Environmental Control
Hospital HVAC systems are fundamentally different from commercial building HVAC:
- Infection Control: Operating rooms require laminar airflow with HEPA filtration, positive pressure relative to adjacent spaces, precise temperature (18–24°C) and humidity (40–60% RH)
- Isolation Rooms: Negative pressure for airborne infection isolation, with alarmed pressure monitoring
- Sterile Processing: Specific temperature and humidity for instrument sterilization areas
- Medical Gas Systems: Oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical air, and vacuum systems with centralized alarm monitoring
- 24/7/365 Reliability: No downtime permitted — redundant equipment, emergency power, and fail-safe control systems
Cable selection in this environment must account for: high ambient temperatures in mechanical rooms, outdoor exposure for cooling towers and chillers, EMI shielding for sensitive alarm circuits, and fire safety for patient-occupied areas.
The Project
In 2025, the contractor undertook the HVAC and medical gas system installation/upgrade for Philippines.
The scope included:
- New chiller plant with VFD-driven centrifugal chillers

- Building Management System with monitoring points
